Salary: £80,000 per annum + Benefits + Performance-Based Bonus
Reporting to: Commercial Director
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Business Development Manager or Head of Business Development to lead growth initiatives within the debt purchase sector. This field-based role requires an experienced and driven individual with a strong network across Banking, Financial Services (FS), Retail, Telecommunications (Telco), and Utilities sectors. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding our market presence and delivering new revenue streams through acquisition of new clients and development of strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a robust business development strategy to grow the debt purchase arm of the business across target sectors.
- Identify and secure new opportunities in banking, financial services, retail, telco, and utilities, aligning with group-wide strategic goals.
- Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers across prospective and existing clients.
- Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and key client meetings.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including legal, operations, compliance, and marketing, to ensure alignment and effective onboarding of new clients.
- Drive cross-sell initiatives for group services including Contingent Collections, Field Services, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
- Maintain a clear and up-to-date pipeline using CRM tools, providing regular performance and forecast reporting to the Commercial Director.
- Ensure all business development activities are compliant with relevant industry regulations and internal governance standards.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven track record of success in a senior business development role within the debt purchase or related collections/credit management industry.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to structure complex commercial deals.
- Extensive network and experience across at least two of the following sectors: Banking, FS, Retail, Telco, and Utilities.
- Experience in cross-selling or promoting multi-service offerings.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a field-based role.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly to Manchester, Skipton, and Blackpool.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in working with large financial institutions or Tier 1 creditors.
- Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks within the debt purchase industry.
- Exposure to group-level strategy and working with C-suite stakeholders.
